The level of planning, preparing and effort that went into getting this 20 minutes to sit and read a book, by myself (well nearly by myself as the children were playing in the sand in front of me!!) was CRAZY!!!

Have you ever caught yourself thinking back or referring to how simple most of our childhoods were? You got up, ate, dressed, went to school or played outside, maybe watched a small bit of TV, if you had one, played some more outside, went to bed!
Recently, as I was watching my daughter train with her GAA team at our local football pitch, I was casually chatting to a lady about a couple of different books that we were reading and we were swapping thoughts about them. One of them was ‘The Midnight Library’ by Matt Haig and the other was ‘Awaken your Power Within’ by Gerry Hussey.
As we talked about which book we were addicted to and couldn’t put down, the lady then made one of the most striking statements that I have heard in some time! She said that both books helped her to realise that “This is IT, this is NOT a Rehearsal”! She continued by describing how we only get one chance at life and that this chance is NOW, that we don’t get a practice run!
What if your heart was enclosed inside a beautiful, soft, delicate but vibrant flower? It’s petals gently resting over your beating heart keeping it shielded and protected from the hurts and pains of everyday life. If you had the option […]
I love the potential and possibilities that Spring brings in its air and in its presence. I feel it’s a peaceful time where we can slowly start to emerge from the depths of our souls and to revitalise and replenish ourselves with new and fresh natural healing and opportunities. Just like Mother Earth and all her beautiful natural creations, we too can rejoice that it is now time to arise from the long, dark evenings of winter and that it is time to start embracing life above the surface once more!
Over the last number of years and in today’s constant, busy, erratic world, everything seems to be getting faster, fitter, more efficient, more effective, more robotic, more automated. It really does seem that there is a new era of this ‘hybrid’ mode of living dawning upon us all. Everything has to perform at the optimum level possible!!!
Another year has past and we now find ourselves at the beginning of a new year, a blank slate, endless opportunities, hopes, dreams, personal and/or career aspirations or maybe nothing at all. Maybe, it’s just another day and you are happy to be alive and to have made it through another year. There are no rules, we are all uniquely individual!
This is a very powerful question, “what does my body NEED right now?” But it’s also a very difficult question to answer as it requires being able to quiet the chatter of your mind and to learn how to deeply listen to the whispers of your soul. I ask myself this question most days, particularly on the tougher days and really listen for the answers, as I have learned the hard way that the body is a temple, what we put in, we get out and it deserves to be treated with tenderness, care, kindness, understanding and love.
Setting boundaries is something that can be so important for us all in many respects. It can be important for us to seal or fence off our homes, so that our external boundaries are set and laid out for everyone to see where our personal space starts and where the line occurs for someone to enter into that space.
Boundaries can be just as important in terms of our own mental, emotional and physical space. I feel that it is essential that we all individually establish our own personal boundaries so that we and others know what is acceptable or unacceptable in our personal lives.
Living with a ‘Beginners Mind’ approach to everything you do means that you allow yourself to live each moment of your life as if it is the first time you are seeing, hearing, feeling, moving, working in the very moment that you are in. In theory, this is very true, as each moment and experience we have lived are now in our past, they are now gone, we can’t touch them anymore and each moment we have yet to live or experience are in our future, they have not yet happened nor are they guaranteed to happen.
